The "Unbelievable" Steak

As hubby and I are both on a diet - our portion sizes have shrunk :(

Normally hubby would eat a 500g piece of rump steak.  I had my dad (the butcher) cut us some really think rump for him as thats how he likes it.  So, knowing that he is now on a diet, the whole piece would have been far too much.  As mum was working the night time, I offered to cook for dad - so halved the massive rump to feed them both  (much to the dissappointment of my hungry hubby).  I told him he was lucky to get what he got as really half of what he had would have been enough !!
Suffice to say - it was all devoured & thoroughly enjoyed by all !

I bought recently the Jamie Oliver Shark Tooth Griddle Pan - fantastic ! And so easy to clean too.

Steaks were marinated in extra virgin olive oil, parsley, garlic, sea salt and oregano. All blended to make a paste, all steaks brushed with the paste (both sides) and grilled to our liking.

Rump (thick & butterflied) and Eye Fillet Butterflied for me :)

Marinated in Garlic, Parsley & Oregano

The final Product

Signing out for now, will be back tonight possibly.

Have a great day everyone !

First Weigh In & First Friday Home :)

Morning morning !

Well, I decided to weigh in this morning. I know its not been a full week (started the diet on Monday) but I wanted to weigh in before the weekends, just incase we have things where we might have to eat off plan, I don't want that affecting my weight loss (and my mind & sanity & determination! lol).
So after 4 days of eating 100% on SureSlim, I have lost .... Drum Roll Please .... 3.2kg !! Yeah baby !! I am so happy !!! (and hungry .. but so worth it !!).

Zucchini & Carrot Fritter
This morning after weigh in, I made myself my yummy zucchini and carrot frittata for brekkie. So yummy and so filling.

All it is, is ...

Grated Zucchini
Grated Carrot
Diced onions
2 Eggs
Splash of Milk
Salt & pepper to taste.

Mix all together and lightly fry in the pan (if you like them thin like me, and only using a small pan, you will need to make a few - generally you will get 2 or 3 out of each mixture).

Yum !!!

Then I made brekkie for mum  (Grilled tomato, tasty cheese & mozzarella on bread) - and started preparing some food for a lunch we are having with our friends on Sunday.   Our friends parents are here in Australia from Poland, so I thought we could all have lunch together, them making some Polish food, and I will make Greek food.

This morning, I made the tzatziki, and the mixture for the meat patties.  Tomorrow I will marinate some lamb, and cook the meat, and some lemon potatoes on Sunday morning before we leave for lunch.

I have also roasted a chilli garlic chicken for dinner tonight, and will now go and steam some rice and prepare a salad (for lunch and dinner).

I am off to visit my best friend at lunch - her & her hubby are off on a 3.5wk camping trip next week, so I wanted to see her before they left.  As I am going at lunch, I thought I had better prepare dinner just in case I stay too long as usual after way too much talking & laughing & quality time ... heehe....at least if dinner is cooked, my good ol' hubby can bring the dinner to us to all eat together.

I think the hint to succeeding on a diet, is variety in food.  Luckily, coming from a multi cultural background and having always been brought up surrounded by great home cookes - I am able to cook some pretty yummy food :)

Yesterday for lunch I made a delish salad with a garlic lemon tahini dressing (similar to hommus minus chick peas) with leftover chicken schniztel, and a piece of Soy & Linseed Burgen Bread.  Was soo satisfying, even though I was still hungry, it was soo yummy that it felt good eating it - and best thing yet, it was all 100% sureslim (minus the crumbs on the chicken, hence the 1 slice of bread instead of 2).

Chicken Schnitzel, Salad with Tahini Dressing

Well, I have just had an email from another close friend, to say her hubby just met the current PM of Australia at work !!!!  So ... have to keep an eye out on the news tonight as he very well could be on TV !

Best go make dinner now, but will post my steak pics from last night for you all to see - next post ... brb.

Welcome !!

Well, I finally made it !! I have been wanting to do a blog page for a while now but never got around to doing it. Now to having some more time on my hands - alas - here we are !!

I have lots that I want to share, from my digital posters to some of my favourite recipes, and to keep you all updated with events in our lives.

I guess a bit of an introduction to start us off tonight.  I am currently 27 years old, married, with 4 fur babies.  2 cats & 2 dogs.  We have just built our home a year ago, and have been in it one year on Saturday (which I have only just remembered now! lol).   No kiddies just yet, but hopefully after our healthy lifestyle kicks off and we can both lose some weight, we will look at it next year.

Hubby & I have just started a diet this week.  I am doing SureSlim (had great success in 2004-2005) and after reverting back to my old eating & lifestyle habits, I have put the weight back on :(   But now, I have a new job, new lifestyl & less stress, we are giving it a fighting go and going to drop this weight again !

So I will post about that too !! :)

Well, I have had a busy day house cleaning today, but will come back tomorrow to post up the recipe & pics of some 'unbelievable' (according to my butcher father) steaks that I cooked for dinner.

Night all, sweet dreams,

xoxo
